Waleska, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, I spent my formative years in a multiracial adoptive family with six siblings, five of whom were also adopted. This diverse, multicultural upbringing has profoundly shaped my perspective and approach to clinical work.
With over 20 years of experience in social work, I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in 2017 after relocating from Illinois to Florida. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Goshen College (1995) and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Aurora University (2001).
I work with children (ages 6+), adolescents, adults, and older adults on:
I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help clients process traumatic memories and reduce the emotional intensity of distressing experiences. EMDR is an evidence-based treatment recognized by the American Psychological Association and the World Health Organization for treating trauma and PTSD.
Through this approach, I support clients in reprocessing difficult experiences so they can move forward with greater resilience and emotional freedom.
Family is central to my work and personal philosophy. I believe in modeling the tools I share with clients; many are strategies I've successfully used with my own children. Starting therapy requires courage, and I'm honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and growth.
In my personal time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, beach walks, and spending time with my dogs.
